> Facelift

A facelift is to correct, in a sustainable manner, the effects of time on your face. Performed on both men and women, between 40 and 75 years-old, this surgery corrects the fall of tissue by tightening the skin, fat and muscles of the face.

A facelift is a procedure that obviously does not change your face, which must remain "natural".

There are several types of lifts:

Non-surgical facelifts are addressed in other sections of this website. These are facelifts by laser or injection of fillers (Juvederm, Teosyal, Radiesse, etc.).

Surgical facelifts with:

  • Tail of eyebrow lift
  • Forehead lift, which was replaced by Botulinum toxin injections
  • Midface lift combines an enlarged and frontal lower eyelid incision, with rejuvenation surgery of the jowl, the cheekbone and the eyelid.
  • The classic facelift involves an incision around the ears that allows the tightening of the neck and face without creating a frozen facial expression.

The incisions are completely hidden around the ears.

Dr. Alfandari’s technique focuses mainly on carefully tightening the muscles (SMAS – Système Musculo Aponévrotique of the face and platysma) with a minimum stretching on the skin to avoid the frozen look.

The first consultation is essential and should allow you, through old photos, to explain your wishes to your surgeon. Once again, a facelift does not change a face but makes it look younger. During the initial consultation, Dr Alfandari will take many photos of your face in order to analyse its evolution and offer the best surgery for you. He is aware that the best surgery is the one that you are ready or willing to accept. If you just want a face and neck lift because doing more scares you, you are right.

Some preoperative and postoperative instructions are required:

  • Stop smoking or at least reduce the consumption of tobacco below 5 cigarettes per day one month before and one month after the operation to avoid the risks of the skin suffering due to vascularisation problems. For your own interest, never lie about your actual consumption of tobacco; this recommendation is an essential rule in order to operate on you safely.
  • After the operation, you must use the highest sun protection for the first 2 months and throughout the first year.

    - A skin cleaning at your beautician is generally advised one week before surgery (no less than 48 hours before).
    - The day before the operation your hair should be washed with an antiseptic shampoo, Hibiscrub, as recommended in your patient instructions.

It is performed under general anaesthetic or, more rarely neuroleptanalgesia and local anaesthetic. These operations last between 2 to 6 hours depending on the number of extra procedures to do: Lipostructure of the cheekbones, concomitant eyelids surgeries, etc.
